"The barriers that were holding me back have all been worked through. I feel blessed to have found my way to The Women's Center."
The Women's Center of Southeastern Michigan is a nonprofit women's resource center based in Ann Arbor. We provide affordable counseling, financial, legal, and job-related services. Our doors are open to individuals who want to change their lives emotionally, professionally, and financially.Although our work is primarily by and for women, we also welcome men and boys.
Resourcefulness, courage, commitment, creativity, and resilience are traits shared by our volunteers, staff and participants. Together we strive to raise consciousness, build confidence, and strengthen connections—one person, one family, one community at a time.
The Women's Center has moved to a newly-constructed office building at 510 S. Maple, Ann Arbor. With ever increasing demand for our programs and services, the new space gives us room to grow. The center now includes: six counseling rooms, a career- and financial-coaching office, a small groups room, a resource center with computers, conference room and a woman-friendly kitchen.
We couldn't have made the move without the tireless efforts of many, many volunteers. Over 30 volunteers painted the new space over a five day period (including a prime coat and two top coats); volunteers helped to pack, unpack and get us organized; in-kind donors provided furnishings; and community businesses lent us office space during the transition. We thank all of them.
