Abuse recovery
Healing from intimate partner abuse and sexual assault
Abuse recovery resources
The accompanying list includes county-by-county resources for recovery from sexual abuse as well as intimate partner coercion and/or violence.
The Women’s Center partners with SafeHouse Center and other abuse-prevention and recovery organizations in Washtenaw County.
68% of The Women’s Center’s counseling clients report physical and/or sexual abuse in childhood or as adults. In addition, many have experienced emotional abuse or neglect.
Our clients develop coping behaviors to keep themselves safe in abnormal situations. Those behaviors often lose their usefulness as time goes on. Therapy can help to untangle some of those protective adaptations that interfere with functioning in every day life.
